Hyper Nocturnal Episode 7

Hyper Nocturnal
Episode 7
By Charles Davis

INTRO/COMMERCIAL

Scene: On the ship in Matti’s room.

(Sound fades in. Daytras yelling.)

Daytras: Tanya! ….Tanya! Are you there! Tanya, are you alright?!

Monroe: (through body part) She dropped the head and ran away Daytras! You’re all alone now!

Daytras: I have to remove the foot so that they can’t hear me anymore. (Sound of him removing the foot and throwing it.) …Now what do I do? (silence for a moment). (Hits recorder button) Continuing log… Things appear to have taken a turn for the futile. Tanya discovered the secret I had been hiding and ran. I have no way to communicate with her. The bodies on the bridge… they were the bodies of Tanya and Wolfgang. I did not tell them as I thought that the shock of finding out that they needed to cut up their own bodies in order to communicate with me would put them in a worse psychological state than they were already in. My attempt to spare their feelings appears to have backfired though. Wolfgang is gone, Matti has turned and now Tanya is on her own. I do not know if she will survive. given her current situation… I need to proceed under the assumption that I am the only one left to stop the ship.

While it is hard to stay positive given the circumstances, I am pleased to say that I have completed the calculation. I believe I know what needs to be done on the keyboard in order to turn Marchosias solid and expose his aura. Once that has been completed, he and his aura can be destroyed. I should then have the ability to stop the ship. However… due to my condition I am not able to operate the keyboard. I must think of another way to activate the Hyper Nocturnal drive and get it to function in the way I have calculated. (silence for a moment. Sudden sound of a throb). My time seems to be short for completing this task for more than one reason as well.

While my mind struggles to think of a solution, I am remembering what I witnessed back in the engine room when Humbaba battled Marchosias. They Hyper Nocturnal drive reacted to their presence without music being played. Why? …Perhaps…Yes… That would make sense… It is functionally the same effect. (Pause) I believe I may have devised a solution for activating the Hyper Nocturnal drive. I will need to do some calculations. (sound of him calculating on his chair). …Calculating… Calculating… Calculating… (Stops calculating) … Yes… This seems like a logical given the situation. However, I will never be sure if it will work exactly until I try.

I will need to make my way back to the engine room. However, I face two dilemmas. One, the door is still open to outer space in the room. I will need to find a way to shut it so that I am not sucked out. The second situation is that as soon as I leave this room I will be attacked. …Perhaps I will need to utilize a solution similar to what I used when I was traveling on the outside of the ship. This room is protected by the altar in the closet. The central part of the altar is a bloody glass sculpture. I could carry it and perhaps it would protect me, like the gravity plate protected me on the outside of the ship. (Sound of him wheeling over to the locker.) Picking up the central part of the altar. (Sound of him picking it up.) Now, where should I go in order to get the doors closed? The central computer on the bridge is out of the question… Perhaps the lab would be the best place. As the lab is located directly next to the engine room, I may be able to break apart some of the wiring that is in the wall and connected to the engine room. From there I may be able to hot wire the doors to close. (Sound of him wheeling a little bit. He stops.)

…While I know that my faith may be futile, I suppose I should hold out some hope that Tanya will be able to make it to the ship. We have no way to communicate now when she does arrive. She will likely come to this room first thinking it’s where I am and where it’s safe. …I will need to leave her a message that I am in the engine room. There must be a pen or marker I can use in here. (Sound of him wheeling over to the desk and digging through). Here we are. (Sound of him picking up a pen. He wheels over to the wall). I will write it on the wall. (Sound of him writing it on the wall. Sound of him putting the pen down). Ok. Heading out.

(Sound of him wheeling to the door and opening it. Sound of him wheeling out into the hallway. Two monsters scream and he stops wheeling. Sound of them trying to attack but stopping and struggling.) Continuing log. I have moved out into the hallway and the altar appears to be protecting me. There are two entities that look like the rotted corpses of large reptiles that are attempting to attack me but are not able to get close enough. Continuing down the hallway. (Sound of him wheeling and the sound of the two monsters trails off in the distance. As he’s wheeling). The ship has changed again. The rust and rot on the walls is crumbling away to reveal an organic red and wet texture. It’s almost as if the corridor is transforming into the insides of a living entities body. I will try to get through here quickly. (Sound of him wheeling quickly. After a moment he stops wheeling.) The kitchen. …I will need something from within here in order to do what I need to do at the Hyper Nocturnal drive. I am prying the rusted door open rather than manually opening it in case I need to make a quick exit. (Sound of him prying the door open and wheeling into the kitchen. He stops wheeling.)

There is a bunch of cooked human shaped meat in here. I’m not sure why this wasn’t here when I was last in the kitchen. It must be an effect of the dimensions merging. (He wheels in. Sound of meat collapsing and crumbling to the floor. As he wheels.) The meat sculptures are crumbling when I move past them. It must be from the altar. (He stops wheeling) Found what I was looking for. Grabbing a knife from the block. (Sound of him pulling a knife out) …Ok, heading to the lab.

(Sound of him wheeling away. Sound fades out. Musical interlude. Sound fades in at the lab. Sound of Daytras prying the doors open and wheeling in.)

Daytras: Continuing log. I am back in the lab. I pried the rusted doors open to get in here too in case I need to make a quick escape. (Sound of the possessed bodies hissing and coming after him but struggling). The other frozen bodies are attempting to attack me again. However, the altar is keeping them away. They appear to be much more awake and coherent to their mission now. They are not aimlessly flopping around like before. (Hiss from one of the bodies). …It is a sad sight to see… These individuals I have known and respected for years, now reduced to controlled corpses. Even in the world of the dead their minds know no peace. Perhaps destroying Marchosias will free them. (Sound of him continuing to wheel through the lab. He eventually reaches the other end and stops wheeling).

I am at the door to the engine room. Now that I look through the window into the room, it appears as though I will not need to hot wire the doors after all. The doors are still open, however outer space is no longer beyond the doors. Instead it is a whirling spiral of shapes, colors and alien landscapes. Likely an effect of the dimensions collapsing on each other. As it were, none of the objects in the engine room are floating now. This suggests that gravity has been restored. Opening the door will reveal if there is oxygen in there as well. However, I will need to open it via the manual release as the computer has likely locked it. (Sound of him opening the door manually.) Yes… there is oxygen. Moving in. (Sound of him wheeling in and closing the door behind him).

Door has been closed behind me. I could have likely pried the door open like I did with the door to the lab, however I want to have this door act as a closed barrier in between me and my attackers for the time being. At least while I am working with the Hyper Nocturnal drive. I am setting the altar down by the door in order to further prevent any undesirables from entering. (Sound of him setting down the altar. Sound of him wheeling over to the Hyper Nocturnal drive and stopping wheeling.) I am at the Hyper Nocturnal drive. …Ok… time to see if this actual works. (Sound of him pulling out the knife). Stabbing myself in the leg! (Sound of him stabbing himself. Not using the chair) Graah!! Gnaaah!! (Sound of him pulling out the knife.) Hraaaagh! (Sound of the Hyper Nocturnal drive powering up and shooting out a lightning bolt. Getting hit.) Huuh! (Sound of Daytras’ body tightening.) Baaah…graaagh… (Sound of a heavy throbbing is heard for a moment and then goes away). Huuuuuugh! (Silence with Daytras breathing heavily for a moment.) ….Oh dear….

(Sound fades out).

End Scene

Scene: In the labyrinth, hall of mirrors.

(Sound fades in. Sound of Tanya running through the woods.)

Tanya: (Running) Damnit! Damnit! Gotta get away! Gotta get away! (Stops running) …Ah… crap… I have no way to talk to Daytras now… (sighs) …Well, I can’t go back now, I have to keep moving forward. (Sound of running again. Suddenly sound of her running on glass. She stops running.) Oh man… it’s turned into a corridor of mirrors. They’re everywhere…

Matti: (from a distance) I’m coming for you Tanya!

Tanya: Ah, crap! (Sound of her running into the hall of mirrors. Sound of her suddenly running into something). Ah! Damn it! Ran into a mirror! (Sound of her feeling around) Uhhh, looks like I can turn this way (sound of her jogging cautiously in a certain direction. Sound of her hitting another mirror.) Gah! Hit another one. These mirrors make it impossible to know what is an actual path and what is just a reflection. I gotta feel around. Uhhh (Sound of her feeling around). This way! (Sound of her fast jogging).

Matti: (Running up) I can see you Tanya! (Sound of him smacking into a mirror) Ah! Damn it!

Tanya: (As she moves through) Yeah, and I can see you smacking head first into a mirror through the reflections!

Matti: Mirrors! It’s making it look like you are standing next to me wherever I turn. It is no matter, I will find you regardless!

Tanya: (as moving) Ah, so your moving left. I’ll make sure to avoid that.

Matti: And your moving right, so I’ll make sure to go that way.

Tanya: (moving) Damn it!

Matti: This maze of reflections can’t protect you Tanya!

Tanya: Gah! (sound of her hitting a mirror) Hit another. (Feeling around) This way! (Sound of her moving).

Matti: (Sound of him hitting a mirror) Ah! Another mirror!

Tanya: (moving) Looks like your just as trapped as I am Matti!

Matti: (moving) Nonsense! We may be both lost, but the difference between you and I is that when I emerge, the world won’t be after me.

Tanya: (moving) Story of my life!

Tanya & Matti: (bumping into each other) Ugh!

Tanya: (Pause) Ah crap, it really is you.

Matti: Graaah! (lunging at her).

Tanya: Ack! (Sound of them struggling. Kicking him) Graah!

Matti: Uuuh! (falling back.)

Tanya: (Sound of her running off and hitting a mirror) Ugh! Another mirror! (Sound of her running in another direction).

Matti: Rrrrraaagh! (Sound of him running at her and hitting a mirror) Ugh! Damn it! Where did you go?

Tanya: (moving) I’m right next you, can’t you see me?!

Matti: Graaah! (Sound of him running and hitting another mirror) Bah! Bitch!

Tanya: (moving) Now I’m over here Matti!

Matti: Aaaah! (Sound of him running and hitting another mirror) Gah!

Tanya: (moving) Now I’m here!

Matti: Rrrraaaaagh! (Sound of him running and hitting another mirror) Dah! Enough of this trickery! (Sound of Matti starting to punch the glass. As he punches.) Hraah! Hraah! I will smash these mirrors down and find you! (Sound of a mirror smashing.) That’s one!

Tanya: (moving) Ah man…

Matti: (Punching mirror) Raaaagh! Raaagh! (Sound of a mirror smashing). I’m on to you Tanya! Hrraaagh! Hraaagh! (sound of him punching the mirror and it smashing).

Tanya: (the mirror smashing near here) Aaah!

Matti: Found you! Graagh! (Sound of him lunging at her)

Tanya: Oof! (Getting knocked down. Sound of them struggling.)

Matti: (strangling her) I will strangle you to death with my own hands!

Tanya: (getting strangled) I’m dead you idiot! I don’t need air!

Matti: Fine! Then I will smash you against these mirrors until your spirit essence is drained from your body! Raaah! (Sound of him picking her up and smashing her against a mirror).

Tanya: (Getting smashed) Hrugh!

Matti: And again!

Tanya: (Getting smashed) Uuugh!

Matti: And again!

Tanya: (Getting smashed on the mirror breaking) Ooogh! (Sound of them falling on the floor and struggling again. After a moment sound of Tanya grabbing a glass shard.) Grabbed a glass shard! Hrraah! (Sound of her stabbing Matti).

Matti: (Reeling) Aaah! You stabbed me!

Tanya: (Lunging at him and stabbing again) Graah!

Matti: (Falling to the floor) Aaah!

Tanya: (Stabbing) Haaagh!

Matti: Aaah!

Tanya: (Stabbing over and over again) Rraagh! Raagh! Aaaaagh! Hrraaagh! Hraaaagh! (She stops stabbing and stands. Matti whimpers in pain.)

Matti: (The spirit essence draining from his body) Noooooo! My spirit!

(Sound of Matti breaking apart and evaporating into thin air).

Tanya: (After a moment) He’s gone… He broke apart and evaporated. (Sound of her dropping the glass shard.) Alright. I gotta find an exit. (Sound of her taking a few steps. She stops.) Wait… there’s a door. Behind the mirror that smashed when he threw me into it… there’s a stone door. (sound of her walking up to the stone door. She opens the door and the sound of the black curtain is heard. She gasps. She slowly takes a few steps inside the door. She starts breathing heavily. Terrified). ….The… Black Curtain… (Sound of the door closing behind her). Hugh! No! (Sound of her turning around and trying to open the door.) I… Can’t get the door back open… (Sound of her turning back around and breathing heavy.) The final test… It’s the Black Curtain… It’s right here in front of me…It’s so big… Gah! It’s trying to pull me in! (Sound of her breathing heavy for a moment and collecting herself.) I will walk through…

(Sound of her starting to slowly walk through. She breathes heavy and whimpers. The sound of the Black Curtain gets more intense. Tanya stops walking and whimpers a minute.) I can’t… I can’t… It’s on me…(Sound of the Black Curtain gets more intense. Tanya breaths heavy. She starts to calm her breathing. Talking softly to herself.) You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark. For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make. (Sound of the Black Curtain begins to fade a little). You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark. For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make. (Sound of Tanya starting to walk again. The Black Curtain spits and hisses at her. Talking in a normal voice) You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark. For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make (Continuing to walk through as the Black Curtain makes noises at her.) You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark. For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make. You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark. For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make

(Suddenly the Black Curtain makes a giant roaring noise. Tanya stops walking and whimpers for a moment. She breathes heavy. She starts to walk again slowly as the Black Curtain screams at her.)

Tanya and Wolfgang: (As she begins to talk, the voice of Wolfgang starts talking with her). You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark.

Tanya: (stops walking) …Wolfgang?

Tanya and Wolfgang: (Tanya starts walking again) For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make. You judge my existence on reflections. But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark. For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword. And a powerful armament they make. (The Black Curtain roars at her again. They yell back.) You judge my existence on reflections! But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark! For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword! And a powerful armament they make! (The Black Curtain reels as they yell and walk through) You judge my existence on reflections! But you are wrong to think of my being as small enough to vanish in the crowd of dark! For I am a mind, and my thoughts are my shield and sword! And a powerful armament they make!

Tanya: (Stops walking and breathes heavy for a moment.) A door! I see a metal door! (Sound of her running towards.) Made it! (sound of her opening the door and running through closing the door behind her. Sound of the ship. Tanya breathes heavy for a moment.) The ship… I’m back on the ship…

(Sound fades out)

End Scene

COMMERCIAL

Scene: Back on the ship.

(Sound fades in, Tanya breathing heavy.)

Tanya: (Shaking it off) Huraaaaagh…. ok… ok… collect yourself here Tanya, take inventory… I’m alive. I’m alive again… I can feel it… I’m sweating, I’m out of breath… Oh thank god, I’m alive again! …I’m on the ship… Looks like I came in through one of the air locks… Ok… This is a hallway… I think this is near the… uhhh… kitchen? Christ, I can’t tell, this place has gone to hell…literally. Alright, first task is I have to find Daytras. He’s going to be in Matti’s room. That’s also going to be the safest place on the ship right now. Alright, this way. (sound of her starting to walk down the hallway.) God, look at this place. It’s like I’m walking through…

Computer: She is here! She has entered the ship through the air lock!

Tanya: (Sound of the walls suddenly crashing and coming together in front of her. Sound of her jumping back.) Aaah! The walls collapsed in front of me!

The Wall: I have been awaiting you Tanya! Marchosias forewarned of a living human potentially arriving on the ship.

Tanya: Oh jesus! The damn wall’s talking!

Computer: You think you are so strong to have passed through the Black Curtain! But now your body is whole and you are weak again! We will smash you and your spirit into oblivion!

The Wall: I have heard you before Tanya. In the white verse, where you sat scared and alone, crying on the floor. I know your psyche and your fears. There will be no trickery that will work this time. Now die again! (Sound of the Wall moving towards her).

Tanya: Ahh! (Starts running away).

Computer: She is running in the opposite direction! You have no where to run Tanya!

Tanya: (walls collapsing in front of her again, she stops running with a gasp.) Aaa!

The Wall: This direction will give you no exit either! (sound of the falling wall starting to move towards her. Tanya runs in another direction. Sound of her stopping as the other falling wall move towards her.)

Computer: Both directions of the hallway are coming for you Tanya! Looks like somebody is about to get crushed!

Tanya: (Breathes heavy and sound of her taking a few steps back) Here! (Sound of her running down another hallway).

Computer: She ran sideways down an emergency cut through!

The Wall: It is no matter, I control the walls in this area. That corridor is pretty tight Tanya and I would watch out, because it’s about to get a whole lot tighter. Look what’s coming up behind you!

Tanya: (Sound of the walls collapsing behind her) Aaah! (Sound of her running fast as the walls collapse.)

Computer: Crush her! Crush her! You’ve almost got her!

Tanya: Bah! (Sound of her running out the other side of the corridor.)

The Wall: Awww, she ran out the other side of the emergency cut through before she got crushed.

Computer: She’s still running! Get her!

The Wall: No where is safe Tanya!

(Sound of the wall collapsing in front of her. She stops running and turns. Sound of her running into a room.)

Computer: She ran into the kitchen!

The Wall: That room is nothing but a box for me to crush around you! (sound of the walls starting to crush around her).

Tanya: Hraah! (Sound of her running to the wall and starting to pry the panel off of a shaft).

Computer: She’s pulling the panel off of that maintenance shaft!

Tanya: Got it! (Sound of her tearing the panel off. Sound of her crawling into the shaft.)

Computer: She crawled into the shaft! Crush her! (Sound of the crushing stopping). Why did you stop?! Crush her!

The Wall: She is inside of the wall now… I only hold control on the outside.

Computer: No!

The Wall: It is no matter. Peril still exists for her on the inside.

(Sound fades out. Musical interlude.)

End Scene

Scene: Inside the ships wall, crawling around

(Sound fades in. Tanya is crawling through the inside workings of the ship.)

Tanya: (as she’s crawling) Well… thank god I’m not claustrophobic too… I just gotta hope that this tube is leading to the bedrooms like I think it is… god only knows how the inside of this ship has changed now. (sound of a woman crying in the distance. Tanya stops crawling.) …Oh there’s no way in hell I’m falling for that… (Sound of her continuing to crawl. The woman keeps crying. Tanya stops again. Yelling out.) Hey! I’m not falling for that!

Lost Soul: (sound of her moving out from around a corner) You hear my tears, yet you think I lie.

Tanya: It’s you! The lost soul from the central dimension! What are you doing here?

Lost Soul: When Marchosias struck down the lord of intestines, I was placed within his dominion. He is my master now.

Tanya: So what? You’re master sent you here to kill me then?

Lost Soul: No! I have come to help you!

Tanya: What? Why?

Lost Soul: Because my master is cruel! Far crueler than my former master. He and his legions treated me so torturously that I had to escape! I hid here. However, there are still dangers yet within these walls. I sat wailing at my misfortune, but then I saw you come! You are strong woman. You managed to face Humbaba in his own lair and escape. In order to reach the ship again, you must have had to pass through such trials that I shutter to think of them! You and your might can surely assist me!

Tanya: First off, I don’t buy this crap for a minute. Second off, I’d hate to tell you lady, but I’m not exactly in a position of power right now. I know almost nothing about how to face down these things on the ship much less know how to save you from your master!

Lost Soul: You are here to kill Marchosias though, are you not? Killing him will free me! As you are not demon kind, when he is destroyed I will not be transferred to your dominion. I will finally be free!

Tanya: So what? You want to help me kill Marchosias then?

Lost Soul: Yessss.

Tanya: Fine, then tell me what his aura is and where I can find it.

Lost Soul: I… know not… Marchosias cherishes his aura as do all demons. He tells no one about it.

Tanya: Fine, then you’re useless to me. Get out of my way. (Sound of her starting to crawl through.)

Lost Soul: Wait! I can help you still! Deeper within the ship, Where you are heading, there are dangers. I can help you navigate through them.

Tanya: (Continuing to crawl) Likely story. Like I said, I don’t believe you for a second.

Lost Soul: I will follow you regardless. You are my only hope! (Sound of her following Tanya as they crawl through.)

Tanya: (stops crawling) No! Get away from me!

Lost Soul: No! You will die when you are within the next chamber if I do not help you!

Tanya: How will I die? What’s in the next chamber?

Lost Soul: It is what the inner workings of the ship are now. An amalgamation of gears and cogs. But there are traps laid throughout! Marchosias knew those who threaten him may try to undo the ship from within, so he placed dangers for anyone who dare enter the inside of the ship. No single person will be able to make it out. However, with the two of us, there may be a chance. I know the secrets for avoiding the dangers.

Tanya: (sighs) Whatever. (They continue crawling. Sound of gears and clockwork suddenly can be heard. Stops crawling.) What the? (Continues crawling. Sound of them crawling out of the shaft.) Out of the shaft. Man… look at this place. You weren’t kidding were you? It looks like clockwork. …Giant clockwork. It’s like the inside of the ship has been turned into a watch.

Lost Soul: It is time you see before you. The ship is now the incarnation of time passing. These gears and cogs will turn, moving time forward until the point that time is no more.

Tanya: You mean when the ship crashes into Earth and everything gets pulled into the Black Curtain.

Lost Soul: Yes.

Tanya: Alright. I’ve gotta move through here. (sound of her taking a step.)

Lost Soul: No! (Sound of her grabbing Tanya and pulling her back as spikes shoot out.)

Tanya: Whoa! Those spikes almost skewered me!

Lost Soul: As I foretold you. Here there are many dangers.

Tanya: Apparently so. You saved me.

Lost Soul: Yes. As I so desperately have been beseeching you, please accept my help!

Tanya: …Alright… Fine… How do I move through here?

Lost Soul: From here you must move forward whilst low to the ground for 5 paces.

Tanya: You mean crouch? Ok. (Sound of her crouch and walking forward 5 steps with the Lost Soul following her.) Ok… no spikes this time. Can I stand up now?

Lost Soul: Yes. The path in front of you now is deceiving. It suggests that there is easy passage, however were you to move forward you would be crushed by these plates on the left and right sides. You must avoid this area all together by climbing up the scaffolding to your right.

Tanya: This one with all of the gear spinning on it?

Lost Soul: Yes.

Tanya: Oye, that’s high. Alright, up I go. (Sound of her starting to climb up. She stops.) Oh… you’re following me… you can float.

Lost Soul: Yes.

Tanya: (Sound of her climbing again. As she climbs.) Boy… I sort of wish I could do that too. (Starting to huff as she climbs) …I’m finding now that I’m alive again, I’m getting tired a lot easier. If only I had listened to Wolfgang and used the treadmill more instead of sitting on my ass eating yogurt all the time. (stops climbing. Sighs.) …Oh Wolfgang…

Lost Soul: You mourn your fallen comrade.

Tanya: …Yes…I do… (Sound of her continuing to climb). But he’s still out there. In the Black Curtain. I heard him. Once all this is over, I’m going to get him out.

Lost Soul: Nothing outside of the Great Beast has ever escaped from the Black Curtain.

Tanya: (climbing) Yeah, well I walked through it and someone once told me that was impossible. I also came back from the dead and everyone thinks that’s impossible too. …Frankly I’m starting to think all of these people who keep saying things are impossible are just saying so because it’s never been done before. But based on what I’ve seen now… I don’t know… Just because you have no previous examples or frame of reference for something doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

Lost Soul: The priorities of the living are strange to me.

Tanya: (climbing) Why?

Lost Soul: You died. Seemingly the worst thing that could happen to one who is alive. You were separated from your loved ones within the mortal realm, torn apart from all you knew and were comfortable with. But now, you are alive again. You have all of that back. Yet, despite this fact, the first thing on your mind is not to reconnect with those you care for that are alive. The first thing on your mind is to rescue one that is dead. A spirit beyond your life. But you would not only just rescue him. The Black Curtain is the greatest danger known throughout the verses. And you would put yourself head first into this danger. In order to save him, you would risk everything important to you. And in the end, he would still be dead.

Tanya: (climbing) …Yes… He would still be dead… but he would be free. And for a friend… I would risk everything in my life and beyond in order to give him that.

Lost Soul: You living beings are so confusing.

Tanya: And you dead spirits aren’t making much sense to me either. (Sound of her reaching the top and stepping off). Ok… I reached the top… Now what?

Lost Soul: Move forward across the platform, but cease movement after 3 steps.

Tanya: …Ok… (sound of her taking three steps and stopping. Silence.) So, why am I stopped?

Lost Soul: We are awaiting for the beast before you to turn his back and you can quietly move past.

Tanya: Beast? …What beast? I don’t see a beast…

Lost Soul: He is invisible.

Tanya: Oh… well… can’t he hear us?

Lost Soul: No, the beast does not have the ability to hear.

Tanya: But he’s looking at me?

Lost Soul: Yes. His eyes are upon you now. But do not fret, he can not see you as long as you stay still. The beast can only see movement. You were able to take three steps before you were in front of his eyes.

Tanya: Well… shouldn’t have you just had me not walk forward and be in front of his eyes? Shouldn’t have I just stayed still until he moved?

Lost Soul: Perhaps that would have been a more effective approach.

Tanya: Wait, what? …You admit you were wrong just like that?

Lost Soul: Yes.

Tanya: Geez, you’re like the worst tour guide ever.

Lost Soul: Stop moving so much, you will alert the beast to your presence and he will swallow you!

Tanya: Swallow me?…Swallow me?! How big is this thing?

Lost Soul: His face is before you, but his feet stand upon the ground below.

Tanya: (Pause) …Oh, are you fucking kidding me?!

Lost Soul: Cease your movement! The beast is becoming agitated!

Tanya: (stopping moving) Jesus Christ, jesus christ. (silence for a moment.) Well, is it gone yet?

Lost Soul: The beast grows bored. He has begun to turn his back, but you must wait for him to be completely turned. (silence for a moment.) Now! Run to the end of the platform as quickly as you can!

Tanya: Gah! (Sound of her running across the platform.)

Lost Soul: Stop running now at the end of the platform.

Tanya: (Stops running) Ok.

Lost Soul: Quickly pry the panel off of the shaft on the wall next to you and crawl in! You will have traversed this room safely!

Tanya: Doing it! (sound of her pulling the grate off and crawling through). I’m in!

Lost Soul: As am I. I am right behind you.

Tanya: (sighs) Alright… so maybe you weren’t lying. We made it through safe. So… how do we get to the bedrooms from here?

Lost Soul: We are nearly there. Continue ahead.

Tanya: Alright. (Sound of them crawling through). Hey… uh… sorry about beating you up back in the central dimension. You’re being real cool about it now.

Lost Soul: My desire to be free from Marchosias outweighs the animosity I feel towards you and your kind.

Tanya: Hey, (stops crawling) What is it that you guys hate so much about the living?

Lost Soul: You are ignorant of the suffering and terrors that are always around us who aware of the true nature of the verses. For some seemingly unknown reason, the Great Beast in all of its glory has seen it fit to show favoritism towards your kind and spare you the pain that is the existence of all other sentient entities. That is why we hate you. We hate you for your blind optimism for the future. We envy your calmness. We loath your inability to see the world as it truly is.

Tanya: But why blame us for that? We didn’t have a choice in how we were made.

Lost Soul: The reason for our hatred is not based off of choice. If any of us had the ability to make a choice we would choose to live in your world. Many of us try to merge into your world. But most fail. (Scoffs)… Choice… Please… In the real world, the illusion of choice is the greatest terror of all. It is a thought that constantly haunts our thoughts but is always out of reach. No… Our hate for you goes beyond choice. Our hatred of you comes as a consequence of circumstances. You say that it wasn’t your fault for being born the way you are. Likewise, we have no fault for being born the way we are in the world we are in.

Tanya: And now you live for vengeance huh?

Lost Soul: More than anything.

Tanya: Than what is this freedom from Marchosias crap you’re so desperate for?

Lost Soul: Being free from Marchosias will not free me from my all of my pain or the horror of being alive.

Tanya: But it will free you a little bit from the pain won’t it? I know I’m not from this world and I know nothing about what you go through on a daily basis, but in my world it’s pretty much a given that you don’t get out of a bad situation with any one action or movement. It happens a little bit at a time over a very long time. A lot of the time it doesn’t happen all the way… but sometimes it does. And those few times it does happen is when those people in bad situations start making choices. Each right choice only relieves a small amount. But a small amount is better then no amount. And eventually, after enough time and enough right choices bad times are only a memory. And you? Trying to get this freedom from Marchosias? I don’t know… it sounds to me like you’re a person who is making choices.

Lost Soul: Your views on the true nature of the verses is grossly naive, embarrassingly ignorant and thoroughly insulting.

Tanya: Yeah… Story of my life. Alright, continuing to move. (Sound of them crawling again.) So you said the bed rooms are right near here?

Lost Soul: Yes, we should be directly above them now.

Tanya: Good… Now I just have (Sound of the floor giving away) Aaaah!

Lost Soul: Beware! The floor gives away!

Tanya: (Sound of Tanya falling and splashing into water. She surfaces spitting.) Puh! Puh! …Uggghh! Jesus christ! The floor to this bedroom has turned into a pool of blood!

Computer: She is in the bedroom! Crush her!

The Wall: Yes!

Tanya: Oh crap!

(Sound of The Wall trying to crush the room but failing).

Computer: The walls to the room still stand! Why have you not crushed her?!

The Wall: The room she is in! It held the altar! The influence from its presence still stands, I am unable to crush her!

Computer: No!

The Wall: She will not be safe from me in there for long however. The influence fades quickly. Already the room has begun to merge and be affected by the other collapsing verses. It will only be a matter of moments before I can crush her!

Tanya: This is Matti’s room? Daytras! Daytras! Are you in here?! (Sound of her splashing around. She stops splashing.) Huh? There’s something written on the wall… He went to the engine room! God damn it! This place just throws one damn thing after another at me!

Lost Soul: You must escape from the room! The influence from the altar fades quickly! I cannot help you while it is still present though!

Tanya: (Splashing around) Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

The Wall: I can feel my control of the room growing. (sound of the walls rumbling).

Lost Soul: You must get out of the room! Climb up the wall and back into the shaft! He will not be able to crush you from there!

Computer: You little wallop! Betraying your own master!

Tanya: No! Damn it! That’s it! I’m not playing this game anymore! I’m done running around! I’m done hiding! Lost Soul, how do I get to the bridge from here?!

Lost Soul: No! You must not go to the bridge! Marchosias is too strong!

Tanya: I don’t care how strong he is! I’m ending this! I’m ending this right now! I will get to that god damn keyboard and turn off the engines now or die trying!

Lost Soul: No!

Computer: The bridge can be safely accessed from where you are. Simply dive underneath and you will find the entrance to a tube. Swim the through the tube. There are pockets of oxygen throughout it. Eventually you will reach the bridge!

The Wall: No! Do not tell her that! I will be unable to crush her when she is in the tube!

Tanya: I’m going! (sound of her diving under and swimming).

Lost Soul: No!

Computer: HAHAHAHA!

The Wall: Why did you tell her that?

Computer: Because now she is traveling directly into the lion’s den! She delivering herself right into Marchosias’ hands!

Tha Wall: (Grumbles) I would have liked to crush her.

Lost Soul: Oh no! I must help! (Sound of her crawling off.)

Computer: Don’t think I didn’t see everything Lost Soul! Your time is running out now too!

(Sound fades out. Musical interlude.)

End Scene

Scene: The ships bridge

(Sound fades in. Sound of Tanya surfacing and gasping for breath.)

Tanya: (Splashing around) Gaah! (breathes heavily) Ok… I think I’m here. …Gotta get this gate off. (Sound of her opening a hatch). Alright, open. Out of this blood finally. (Sound of her climbing out of the blood and taking a few step.) …Back on the bridge… The hole in the floor is gone. There’s no-one here either. I hope that’s a good thing, but I doubt it is. Well, whatever, there’s the keyboard. (sound of her walking over. Sound of her stopping walking as a chair swivels around.)

Monroe: Hello Tanya.

Tanya: Marchosias! Get the hell out of my chair!

Monroe: You know, I’ve been sitting here for hours, trying to do what comes so easily to you. But I just can’t seem to do it. I am not a person who is easily made envious you know… When there is something I want, I tend to just… well… take it. Yet, no matter how hard I try or how forceful I am, I have had to succumb to the fact that I will never be able to play this keyboard with any particular effect. And that… I am very jealous of.

Tanya: Fine! I’ll just plow my way through you! (sound of her running at him.)

Monroe: Grab her!

(Sound of monsters suddenly running out and grabbing her.)

Tanya: (Getting grabbed) Ah! Where did you come from?!

Monroe: We have all manners of hiding here! (Sound of him standing up and taking a few steps forward.) Did you really think that you were going to be able to stop all of this by just running on to the bridge head first?

Tanya: Maybe.

Monroe: Then you’re stupid… and stubborn!

Tanya: I prefer to say bulldog-esq.

Monroe: Oh, don’t fool yourself into thinking that this was some brave heroic act of defiance. You are no martyr. You’re frightened! That’s why you ran into here. This was a suicide attempt. You saw what was needed to be done ahead of you and how much work it would be and you wanted to give up. So you came to me in hopes that I would be your tool of mercy!

Tanya: Can’t say I ever thought of you as the merciful type.

Monroe: And I can’t say I ever thought of you as the delusional type!

Tanya: (pause) …So you have me then… Now what?

Monroe: …What would you have done if you were able to reach the keyboard?

Tanya: I would have shut off the engines.

Monroe: Now that’s a song I would like to hear. Let her go.

Tanya: What?

Monster: Master?

Monroe: I said let her go! She wants to stop the ship? Let her! Who am I to argue with a musician of her caliber. I am just a humble demon who will never know the beauty of humanity. Let this brave little bulldog end my evil ways and save her world. (Pause) … I said let her go!

Monster: Very well.

(Sound of them letting her go.)

Monroe: Well go ahead Tanya. Go to the keyboard and stop the ship.

Tanya: …Fine! (Sound of her running up to the keyboard quickly. She plays a song on the keyboard. Sound of the engines whirring and then powering back up again quickly.) What?! They didn’t shut off!

Monroe: Hahahaha! Grab her again!

Tanya: (Getting grabbed) Gah! What happened? Why won’t the engines shut off?

Monroe: Because your engines are past the point of no return! The speed of the ship, the passage of the time and the convergence of the verses have merged to the point where there is no longer a concept of cessation! Within the last hour, the ship has reached a new type of singularity. A singularity of forward momentum! The only way to stop this ship now is to crash it into its destination! By having achieved this unstoppable forward movement, stopping it by crashing the ship will create a paradox like has never been seen before! This paradox will cause all of the merged verses to collapse into each other, back to a single point! And then, I will be able to position myself as ruler of all existence!

Tanya: Why Earth though? Why do you need to crash into Earth?

Monroe: Because it is the heart of everything important in your world. Your kind always wonders if you are alone in your universe. Well I’m here to tell you that you are. You are completely alone! The only sentient beings floating through infinity. And do you know why? It’s not because of a silly scientific explanation such as mere chance that you were the only planet that was habitable for life. It’s because the thing that makes your world special is originating from your planet! The pressure from the different verses that press down and allows for the physical creations that make up your world all happen at a single central point.

Tanya: Earth. It’s where all the pressure happens. Earth is the center of the universe.

Monroe: Of your universe yes. Of the rest of the verses… hardly.

Tanya: So that’s why you need to crash into Earth then! Because of all the pressure that anchors our world down, you can’t just so easily merge the entire dimension like you can the other ones. It’s like the difference between trying to tug a boat that’s free floating on the water and trying to tug one that is tied to a dock. So if you can crash into Earth with all of the other dimensions in tow, all of that momentum and inertia would essentially snap the rope or break the dock that Earth is anchored to. Then you can suck in the free floating Earth and drag everything wherever you want it to go.

Monroe: I see that the logical mind of that broken scientist you’ve been speaking with has rubbed off on you.

Tanya: Jesus, I guess it has.

Monroe: Computer, open up the main view screen windows.

Computer: Yes master. (Sound of the windows opening).

Monroe: Tanya, look out the window. What do you see?

Tanya: (Emotional and softly spoken) Space. We’re moving through space. It’s my dimension though. I know this area. We are about to pass by Pluto. Jesus, we’re already within the Milky Way. We’ll be at Earth soon.

Monroe: (Sound of him taking a few steps) Within the next 3 hours. (Stops walking) But there’s more to this than just recognizing astral bodies. This landscape may be home to you, but it is alien to me. I have never seen sights such as this before. I am filled with wonderment by the pure peace that your world is full of. It is something our kind have never known but has always longed for. …And now here it is in front of me. …Amazing… (sound of him taking a few more steps and stopping) Soon this world will end, reduced to nothing, shoved back into the hole it belongs to be in. In it’s place will only be me. What you are seeing here Tanya is not just your world. You’re seeing the end of your world. And I’m going to keep you here, standing where you are, looking out that window. I’m going to have you watch the end of the world from a front row seat.

Tanya: Wouldn’t it be better just to kill me?

Monroe: And return you to a spirit form? I don’t think so. When you die, your spirit could end up reappearing anywhere on the ship, giving you a chance to continue your effort to defeat me before I’m able to catch up and destroy you permanently. No, I think I like you standing right there trapped and mortal.

Lost Soul: Let her go!

Monroe: What? (Sound of him turning around) You!

Tanya: The Lost Soul! She appeared out of nowhere!

Monroe: An unfortunate ability of her kind. What do you think you are doing you little whelp?!

Lost Soul: Free her or I will begin to play the instrument!

Monroe: You’re betraying me! A pathetic creature like you is defying her master!

Lost Soul: (Upset) I… I said let her free!

Monroe: (Huffs) You fool… You have NOTHING to make demands with! The keyboard can not stop the ship now and even if it could, you do not know how to play it nor are you of humanity!

Lost Soul: But I am part of humanity Marchosias! You so easily forget the verse from which your own minions come from! I am playing!

(Sound of her starting to hit random notes on the keyboard. The sound of the ship starting to rumble and shake.)

Tanya: (Being shaken) Whoa!

Monsters: (Being shaken) What is happening? The ship is shaking!

Monroe: (Being shaken) Stop! Stop what you are doing!

Lost Soul: No! (Sound of her continuing to play and the ship shaking.)

Monsters: (Being shaken) How is this possible?

Tanya: (Being shaken) Keep playing don’t stop!

Monroe: (Being shaken) Shut her up!

Monster: (Being shaken) I feel something happening! I feel suction!

Tanya: (Being shaken) The suction! It’s from the air cleansing system! She accidentally turned it on by mashing on the keyboard! Its switched into over drive!

(Sound of them getting sucked up against the wall)

All: (Getting sucked) Whoaaa!

Monroe: (Struggling) Gnaah! I’m trapped! How can this be?!

Tanya: (Struggling) Errgh, the suction from the air cleansing system. It stuck everyone to the wall!

Monroe: (Struggling) I am in control of this ship! It bends to my will! I will be free from this trap! (Sound of him struggling and taking steps). Graah! Graaah!

Lost Soul: (Struggling) Tanya, he is using his will power and possession over the ship to reclaim power! With every step he takes he regains more control! Hurry! You must get to the open door and escape from this room before he turns the suction off and his legions are able to grab you again!

Tanya: (Struggling) I’m going! (Sound of her shuffling along the wall) Bah! Graaah! I’m near the door! I’m almost there!

Monroe: (Stepping) Hraagh! Hraaagh! You will not escape this time!

Monster: Hurry master! The door is wide open from when the broken man tore it asunder and she is almost out of the room!

Tanya: (Struggling as she moves) Graaagh! I have to make it! The suction won’t be having effect outside of this room and I can run free!

Monroe: (Stepping) Hgraagh! Mine! Mine! You and this ship are mine!

Tanya: (Struggling and coming free from the suction and running out the door) Made it! Moving! (sound of her running off).

Monroe: (Taking a final step) Graaagh! (Sound of the suction releasing and everyone falling to the floor)

Monster: We are free!

Monroe: This room is mine again! The woman ran off! Get her! (Sound of a bunch of monsters running out of the room chasing her). Hold that one!

Lost Soul: Aaah! (Sound of monsters grabbing the Lost Soul.) Let me free!

Monster: We have her.

Monroe: (Sound of him walking up to her) Your price for betrayal is to know what non-existence truly is!

Lost Soul: No!

Monroe: And I will deliver this experience to you by pulling off your head!

(Sound of Monroe grabbing her and pulling).

Lost Soul: (Getting her head pulled off) Aaaaah!

Monroe: Raaaagh! (Sound of him pulling off her head. Sound of her body disintegrating. Sound of Monroe breathing heavy for a moment.) Now you’re nothing.

(Sound fades out. Musical interlude.)

End Scene

Scene: Running through the ship, the lab and the engine room

(Sound fades in. Tanya is running down the corridor of the ship.)

Computer: There she is! She’s running down the corridor towards the lab! Crush her!

The Wall: Yes! Crush her!

(Sound of the walls starting to crush around here)

Tanya: (As she runs) Aah!

Monsters: (Coming up from behind her) There she is! Get her!

Tanya: (Running) Oh no!

Computer: Stop crushing the wall behind her! You’ll block the legions from running her down! Crush from the front!

The Wall: Yes!

(Sound of the wall coming down in front of her.)

Tanya: (Running through) Graaagh!

Computer: She ran and jumped through the destruction! Keep trying!

The Wall: Yes!

(Sound of the walls rumbling)

Monster: We are almost to her!

Tanya: (Running) Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ! (Sound of her stopping running) Made it! (Sound of her running into the lab. Walls stop rumbling.)

Computer: She made it to the lab! She ran the through the open door that Daytras tore open!

Tanya: (Running) Come on! Come on!

Computer: Possessed bodies! Stop her!

(Sound of the bodies hissing and running after her).

Tanya: No! (sound of her being grabbed by the bodies) Get out of my way! Let me go! (sound of her struggling through the bodies).

Monsters: (Running up) There she is! Get her!

Tanya: Get out of my way! (Sound of her shoving the bodies and struggling through.)

Computer: Bring the walls down on all of them!

The Wall: Yes!

(Sound of the walls rumbling)

Tanya: (Struggling through the bodies) No! No! (Suddenly the sound of the bodies hissing and backing away. Tanya drops to the floor. Sound of the walls rumbling stops. Sound of the monsters stopping running.) Gah! What… what happened? I… I made it to the door to the engine room and they all ran away…

Computer: Why are you all stopping?

Monster: The altar! It is on the other side of the door! We can feel it’s influence! We cannot get near it!

Computer: No!

Tanya: I’m out of here! (Sound of her running up to the door. She hits the button but the door doesn’t open.) Damn, the door won’t open when I hit the button, the computer must be locking it. I have to open it manually. (Sound of her opening it. Sound of her walking through and the door closing behind her. She stops and breathes for a moment.) Made it to the engine room… Daytras? Are you there?

Daytras: Yes Tanya… I am over here.

Tanya: Oh thank god. (Sound of her starting to walk forward) Jesus christ you have no idea what I’ve been through… (She stops walking). …Daytras…

Daytras: …Do not panic…

Tanya: (Suddenly emotional and angry) Noooo…. Nooooo…. This can’t be happening…

Daytras: Tanya… Please… you must remain calm.

Tanya: (Sound of her breathing heavy) The lines! The red lines! They are all over your body!

Daytras: …Yes… They are…

(Sound fades out)

COMMERCIAL

Scene: In the engine room

(Sound fade in. Sound of Tanya taking a few steps forward and then collapsing. She starts to cry)

Daytras: Tanya… get up… I need you to be strong right now…

Tanya: (crying) Strong now?! Strong now?! What the hell do you think I’ve been being since I played that god damn song in the first place?! You were my last hope Daytras! You were the one that was going to figure out how to fix everything!

Daytras: Tanya, this isn’t over. Listen to me. This isn’t over. I have figured out what needs to be done. You’re going to need to do this final part on your own, but you can do it.

Tanya: (crying) I’ve lost Wolfgang, I killed Matti and now your gone too…

Daytras: This is what Marchosias wants Tanya! He wants you to give up! You can’t! Think of your damn sister and niece!

Tanya: (Stops crying and tries to pull herself together. Silence for a moment.) How did this happen? You were supposed to be immune to the possession.

Daytras: Apparently even I am not immune from possession. My advanced brain power only delays the process. The effect of being wounded on both my head and my leg was too much. The lines grew out from where Matti bit me.

Tanya: How long have you known?

Daytras: I first felt that something was wrong shortly after we first met on the bridge. I suspected that it was the possession taking over my body, however the lines only appeared a small amount of time ago… after I solidified myself.

Tanya: What? What do you mean “solidified” yourself?

Daytras: The process we spoke about. For solidifying Marchosias so that we could kill him. I developed a theory for being able to do it without needing to use the keyboard. But I needed to test it. So I tested it on myself here in the engine room. It solidified my soft energy center. I am now a pure solid entity. When I did it the lines appeared on my body. It must be how my spirit was appearing.

Tanya: If you knew you were becoming possessed, why didn’t you say anything?

Daytras: Because I wasn’t possessed yet and you needed my help. You needed to be able to trust me. And I also figured you three could live without the additional stress of knowing that you were responsible for my possession.

Tanya: …Jesus christ… (pause) …The lines are at the base of your neck. You don’t have much time.

Daytras: I know. So listen to me. I have discovered what needs to be done in order to solidify Marchosias and to find out where his aura is hidden. But I’m going to need your help.

Tanya: (breathes heavy for a moment) …Ok… What do we need to do.

Daytras: Good. I have discovered the true nature of the Hyper Nocturnal drive. Music is not needed in order to cause reactions from it. The key to Hyper Nocturnal is emotion. Pure emotion. It is why the music works, but other forms of emotion can cause it to react too. Just like a human, the Great Beast will have reactions to a wide range of powerful emotions when they are filtered through the drive. I saw it occur when Humbaba was locked in combat with Marchosias. The emotion and passion from their battle caused the Hyper Nocturnal drive to react. So I calculated the precise type and way of emotion that needs to be displayed in the presence of the Hyper Nocturnal drive in order for Marchosias to both solidify and to have his true aura be displayed.

Tanya: What emotion?

Daytras: Pain. I stabbed myself in the leg and it caused the Hyper Nocturnal drive to solidify me. Based on this experience, I have been able to calculate what kind of pain I must display in front of the drive and how I can direct it so that it achieves our goals.

Tanya: Pain that you must display? Why do you have to display it?

Daytras: Because you and I are the only humans on the ship, you’re the one who can play the keyboard and my moments are numbered.

Tanya: …So what? I need to torture you or something?

Daytras: …No… Not torture…

Tanya: What then? (Realizing what he’s asking her to do) ….Wait…

Daytras: The knife is on my lap.

Tanya: Oh no! Oh hell no! You can’t ask me to do that!

Daytras: Tanya… I’m dead anyway. When these lines reach my brain I am under Marchosias’ control. Apart from giving you the possession, there is only one way to prevent it from happening. If it needs to be done, it might as well be done in a way that will help put a stop to all of this.

Tanya: No! There must be another way!

Daytras: There isn’t.

Tanya: I… I… I can’t do it.

Daytras: You have to.

Tanya: You said it yourself Daytras, your solidified now! You’ll die! Fully die! There will be no spirit version of you! You’ll disintegrate into non-existence!

Daytras: I know. (Tanya sighs). After you do what must be done, you can use the altar that Matti made to protect yourself as you move through the ship. It is over by the door. But do not take it to the bridge. I have been calculating what makes the altar work, and it appears that the combination of blood and salt mixed with some other ingredients is giving off a protective energy barrier against non-physical entities. But, based on my calculations, Marchosias has amassed a great deal of power at the bridge. He can likely defy laws of physics there now if he flexes enough will power. If you bring the altar to the bridge he will be able to overload its protective energy.

Tanya: You know what I have to do, but your still sitting there talking about science and calculations as if it’s nothing.

Daytras: I know.

Tanya: (Huffs) It doesn’t matter though… None of this does. I was on the bridge. The ship, it’s reached a point of singular momentum. The movement can’t be stopped!

Daytras: It has? …I see…

Tanya: So you see, it doesn’t matter if we kill him now, we can’t stop the ship even if I could get to the bridge safely! God, maybe I should have just stayed trapped on the bridge for all it was worth…

Daytras: How did you escape?

Tanya: …It was the keyboard. It can’t stop the ship anymore, but it’s still able to manipulate the other functions on the ship. Allowed me to get an opportunity to escape.

Daytras: So then you can still use the keyboard to stop this. You may not be able to stop the ship, but you can still change its course. Crash the ship into something other than Earth. Smash it into the moon even. Anywhere but Earth. If you do that then our dimension will not successfully be merged and his plan will fail.

Tanya: …That means that I will need to kill myself. Crashing the ship would kill me again.

Daytras: I know you desire to see your family once more. But there are things going on that are more important than our individual wants and needs right now.

Tanya: …You’re right… (pause.) …But… why can’t we just use our emotions to crash the ship from here? You were able to use your emotions in order to solidify yourself, why not do the same thing in order to steer the ship?

Daytras: Based on my calculations, we are simply not powerful enough to. Emotions can control the Hyper Nocturnal drive, however it seems to be somewhat inefficient compared to using the keyboard and music. If the dimensions were not all merged on the ship, we would be able to move it. But as it were, it took a very extreme act of violence in order for Marchosias and Humbaba to manifest originally, as well as for me to become solidified. At this point, in order to get the ship to move with all of the merged dimensions it also carries, it would simply take more emotion than you and I can give un-assisted.

But, you stated that the keyboard was still able to manipulate the ship. Due to it being as tightly connected to the merged ship and the Hyper Nocturnal drive as it is, it must be operating on a very deep trans-dimensional level. It will be able to give you enough power in order to complete the difficult task of changing the ships direction. Due to our current situation all we can do from here by ourselves is to try to give you a fighting chance to get to the keyboard. However, it seems that doing so successfully will require an act of violence more extreme than we have had yet to see.

Tanya: (Let’s out a desperate gasp) Oh come on, there’s gotta be another option to this. I mean… maybe just let him possess you and I’ll try to find a way to save you.

Daytras: No… My mind is too powerful… I shutter to think about what Marchosias would do if he were in control of it.

Tanya: Then… We can take you to The Black Curtain… When Humbaba was dropped into it, he gave up all of his possessions. Maybe it’s the same thing the other way around. If we drop you in, maybe Marchosias won’t be able to possess you. You’ll be trapped, but at least you’ll still exist.

Daytras: …I would rather not exist than have my individuality and free will taken away from me. (Tanya sighs. Long pause.) …Tanya… The lines are growing. …It is time.

Tanya: Oh Daytras. (Sound of her standing up and walking over to him.) You wonderful, wonderful man.

Daytras: (Speaking without his chair. Slurred.) Set… me… free…

Tanya: (Sighs) Ok… ok… I’ll do it… just close your eyes.

(Sound fades out.)

(Sound of a screen turning on. Background noise of the engine room.)

Tanya: (Sound withdrawn and depressed) This is Tanya Belaranovich pilot for the United Galactic Territories X Class Cargo Ship Macedonia. While going through his personal effects I discovered that Dr. Edmund Daytras was maintaining a log in his chair’s computer of the events that have transpired since he was unfrozen. In a desire to finalize his log and to maintain a complete record of what happened here in case someone finds this, I’ve decided to continue it.

It is true everything that Dr. Daytras has logged. He was not out of his mind. The ship has been over taken by a demonic entity from another dimension known as Marchosias. It was summoned by the ship’s crew… me specifically… when a sheet of music that was found floating in space was played into the Hyper Nocturnal drive. The events that have transpired since that point have been numerous and intense to say the least. Demons and spiritual entities from different religions all mixed together in a single trans-dimensional existence. Everything we believe in so dearly on Earth. .. All of our religions, philosophies and sciences… They don’t even come close to what the full picture really is. I am the last one alive on the ship. The ship’s doctor is dead… lost amongst the masses in a giant singularity known as The Black Curtain. The ship’s chef is also dead… by my hand…but the bastard had it coming. All of the politicians and scientists that were being transported on the ship have also demised, their lifeless bodies now taken over by the demonic entity via spiritual possession.

This ship is hurtling towards Earth on a mission to destroy everything that the human race knows and does not know. And now it’s up to me alone to try and stop it by crashing the ship into anything other than Earth. An action that will end my life as well. …The ship is filled with dangers… my ability to reach the keyboard is limited. But I have a fighting chance now. I… Did as Daytras asked… and he was right. His calculations where correct. As I did it, the Hyper Nocturnal drive sparked and shot out a lightning bolt. I heard a scream in the distance coming from somewhere within the ship. I can only assume it was Marchosias as he became solidified. And on the wall, where the lightning bolt hit, there was a chard imprint of a gear with a set of 3 holes shaped as a pair of wings and a serpent along the face of it. I can also only assume it is what Marchosias’ aura is. My best guess is that I will be able to find it within the inner clockwork of the ship that I previously passed through. And then I will need to destroy it. After that point, I will need to make it to the bridge of the ship, where I can use the keyboard to steer the ship to a crash point that is anywhere but Earth.

(Pause) So that’s it really. As it stands, if things go good, I’m dead. If things go bad, I’m dead and so is the rest of the world… so there’s no pressure really. (Laughing) But hey! It’s all good! It’s all ok! Because I saved Daytras! Yeah! I saved him! (starts breathing heavy as she talks) You see, when I walked into the engine room, Daytras had the red possession lines all over his body. They were up to his neck. If they reached his brain he would have been possessed, so he told me I needed to stop that from happening! (Starts breathing very heavy and starts talking in a rising sort of shout) He said that if I stopped the possession he would be able to give me the chance I needed in order to crash the ship! (Yelling) So I did! I stopped the possession! And now I have a chance to kill myself and save everything! So it’s all good! Everything’s good! Everything’s great! And do you want to know why everything is so great now?!

(Sound of her holding up Daytras’ bloody severed head. SCREAMING.)

BECAUSE I CUT OFF HIS GOD DAMN HEAD!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Tanya holds a single long sustained scream. The sound fades out on Tanya continuing to hold the single sustained scream.)
